We all know that martin Parr broke the mould for British documentary photography, I’ve been frustrated by the fact that the clock stopped there. I’d like to think it’s time to move on from, sunburn, fried eggs and power stations in the distance. I’m British and I don’t think the English are eccentric I think we are stoical, and I think we love to be made to come together because that’s something we find hard on our own. We are an Island tribe, that makes us feisty and good in a fight. We can be fickle and loyal in the same spoonful. Our country is steeped in sleeping religion and the army is still at the heart of our tailoring, our biscuit tins and our mournful morning news. We love a bargain, inclement weather, cake and the underdog, and somewhere there ought to be a statue to Peter Kay for just getting us right.
